With technological advances and the ever increasing pace of life, one thing is
clear, we are all driving further and making greater demands on our cars and
their engines. As cars become more and more sophisticated, and with the
growth of diesel engines, engine manufacturers and OEM recommendations have
become increasing important. One thing we shouldn't forget, despite longer
service intervals, is to check levels of oil in our cars.
This means that between visits to the garage, it's more important than ever to
check the oil level regularly and top it up when necessary. Most car
manufacturers recommend you check your oil every 1500 miles (1000km).

|
This is because, as the oil level drops, the remaining oil in your engine has
to work harder, becoming dirtier and wearing out faster - with the result that
your car's performance may start to suffer.
Some oils thicken
or break down when temperatures are too hot or cold. Without adequate
lubrication, friction can harm engine parts. With oil degradation, one clear
impact is that your engine could be in danger of increased wear, over heating
and even total seizure. To combat these risks, Mobil engineering has produced
a range of remarkably stable lubricants that perform in high and low
temperatures. When calling into your nearest Esso or Mobil Service Station,
remember that regular top-ups with Mobil lubricants help improve engine wear
and prolong your engine life.
